HIT: To the Central New York Boat Show, which took place last weekend at the New York State Fairgrounds.
For our area's many boating enthusiasts, this show is a welcome sign that warm days on the lakes are not too far in the future.
The show is also a great opportunity for boating-related businesses in and around Cayuga County to promote their products and services.
MISS: To the Syracuse men's basketball team being back on the NCAA tournament bubble.
A week ago in this space we gave a hit to the Orange after the team had just won its fifth straight and eight of previous nine games. But then came losses last week to Louisville and Pittsburgh.
SU still has plenty of reasons to be optimistic, but the next game Saturday against North Carolina State at the Carrier Dome could be a critical moment for how special this season can become.
MISS: To a recent incident in which an Auburn man was attempting to commit "suicide by cop," according to the Auburn Police Department.
Police said the case started with a domestic incident Thursday in which the male suspect fled the scene in a car and later ran away on foot after crashing. During the chase, police said the man was making gestures to create the appearance that he had a weapon. Fortunately, the incident was resolved peacefully and no one was hurt.
HIT: To the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, which won a big honor from the NY Theatre Guide.
The guide's Best of 2015 Reader’s Choice Award for Best Professional Theatre (Non-Broadway/Off-Broadway Theatre Company) went to the Auburn-based festival for its 2015 season.
