An Auburn child care center is under new leadership and no longer facing the revocation of its license by New York state.
The license of the Cayuga Community College Childcare Center at 81 Wall St. was pending revocation by the state Office of Children and Family Services until recently due to violations found during an Oct. 28 visit prompted by a complaint. In a statement to 水果派AV on Monday, college Director of Public Relations Andrew Poole said the center worked with the state to avoid revocation.
"We鈥檙e continuing to implement additional practices at the center, including supplementary staff trainings and tools that are designed to ensure the safest possible environment for children and their families," Poole said. "We鈥檝e communicated with families throughout this process so they know we are committed to continuing to offer a quality early childhood education."
The license difficulty came as the center's director at the time, Colette TenEyck, left following her Nov. 3 arrest for allegedly stealing from the Walmart in Waterloo. The two developments were unrelated, the center said at the time. On Monday, Poole confirmed that the center appointed a new director, Lisa Fredette, in December. She had previously served there as a lead teacher and assistant director.
鈥淚鈥檝e been a part of the Childcare Center for close to 10 years," Fredette said in a news release, "and it鈥檚 been a fulfilling experience caring for children from our community. I鈥檝e built strong connections with employees and families during that time, and I think having that open communication will help us continue to provide the best possible childcare for families in our community.鈥
The center聽previously聽faced the revocation of its license in 2022, but avoided it by working with the state. It has a capacity of 132 children, making it one of the largest child care providers in the area.聽
The Office of Children and Family Services does not comment on investigations.
When Florida state Rep. Fiona McFarland's infant daughter Grace crawled for the very first time, the mom of four was right next door, hard at work with her legislative policy staff in the state capitol. Thanks to the on-site child care available in the statehouse, McFarland didn't miss that magical first milestone in her 7-month-old's young life.
