The city of Auburn will provide more information about a major bridge project that was awarded state funding in 2021.Â
An open house is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Memorial City Hall, 24 South St. The meeting will be held in city council chambers.
The informational session will cover the Lake Avenue bridge rehabilitation project. The bridge was built in 1954 and carries traffic over Owasco River between Osborne and Owasco streets.Â
The state Department of Transportation awarded more than $4.6 million for the project through the BRIDGE NY program. At the time of the grant's announcement in 2021, the funding would cover most of the estimated $4.9 million price tag for the bridge work. The city will pay 5% of the total cost.Â
With the public meeting, city officials hope to gather feedback ahead of the bridge project. According to its announcement, the city is seeking comments on the project's economic, environmental and social effects.Â
There will be representatives from the city's engineering department and C&S Engineers at the meeting.Â
Anyone with questions about the project should contact the city's engineering office at (315) 255-4132 or email smcintyre@auburnny.gov.
The meeting will follow another information session on a separate bridge project in Auburn. An open house is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, on the Aurelius Avenue bridge replacement project. That meeting will be held at Casey Park Recreation Center, 150 N. Division St.Â
