Cayuga County 4-H will host its annual Youth Fair and Market Livestock Auction July 31-Aug. 2, giving local youth ages 5 to 19 a chance to showcase their latest projects.
The event will take place at the Union Springs Fire Department at 257 Cayuga St. Attendees should follow all parking signage there.
Youth will show dairy cattle, pigs and more livestock, and present projects on plant science, home economics and other subjects while receiving feedback from experts as well as recognition.聽
Community members can also bid at the auction at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Steers, hogs, lambs, goats and poultry will be available.聽
In a news release, 4-H program leader Sara Wagner of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County said more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the event. Registration for the event has also exceeded last year's by about 50%. Sponsors are still needed, and forms are available at . To donate, email Wagner at smw352@cornell.edu.

A can and bottle drive supporting 4-H will take place July 12-13 at the fire department. Returnables can be brought there or to Bag O' Nickels, 7259 Owasco Road, Owasco, and credited to 4-H.
