Girls basketball all-state teams for Class B, C and D were announced Monday by the New York State Sportswriters Association, and four Cayuga County players earned honors.Ìý
Southern Cayuga, Moravia, Weedsport and Union Springs each had one player recognized in Class C.Ìý
After averaging 27.4 points, 17 rebounds and 4.8 steals a game as a senior, Southern Cayuga’s Charli Bennett was recognized with a first-team selection. As a junior, Bennett was named to the all-state third team, even with her season being cut short due to injury.Ìý
Caraline Wasileski walked away with second-team honors for the Blue Devils. The junior posted 14.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks a contest over Moravia’s 14-4 season. Last year, Wasileski was named Co-Player of the Year with former teammate Jordan Smith.
After leading Weedsport to a second consecutive 19-4 season, Kayla Flask was named to the fifth team for a second straight season. She scored 16.1 points per game during a junior year where she joined the 1,000-point club.Ìý
Union Springs’ Madison Kalet rounded out the selections for Cayuga County with a spot on the 10th team. The Wolves ended the year at 17-5 as the junior averaged 13 points, five assists and 3.2 steals a game.
