John Miller, a 1957 graduate of East High School and a longtime photographer of Auburn sporting events, passed away April 24 after battling an illness. He was 86.
Miller started taking pictures when he was a teenager, but it wasn't until after he retired from a lengthy career in electrical engineering in 2003 that the camera gave him a new passion.

Miller would also travel to nearby colleges to watch and photograph student-athletes who graduated from the Auburn area.
With all the photos he gathered over the years, he started his own website, , so the student-athletes and their families could have access to his archives.听
鈥淚t's not so much as taking the pictures as much as it is meeting the people and meeting the families, the parents and so forth,鈥 he said in 2019.
"That's part of the whole thing, really, is the people you meet. It's more than the pictures."
An avid cyclist, Miller was also part of many Great Race teams over the years and active in several community causes.听
He is survived by his sister, nieces and nephews, according to his聽.听
