The senior wrote his name into the New York State Public High School Athletic Association record books on April 22 by recording a 21-strikeout no-hitter against Pulaski. That tied him for the fifth-most in a seven-inning game in state high school history. The no-hitter was also the second of his Panthers tenure. Pitching 23 innings so far this season, the Le Moyne College commit has posted a .61 ERA and sat down at least 11 batters in three of his four outings. After striking out his 300th batter last season, Usowski is now just six K's away from 400. Port Byron is back on the diamond Wednesday when it plays Cato-Meridian at home.

Boys lacrosse: Nixon Karcz, Jordan-ElbridgeÂ
Scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday, Karcz helped the Eagles secure their fourth win of the season. He ended the 10-9 win with a hat trick and a pair of assists. The senior also dropped in two of his team’s goals in a 5-4 loss to Cazenovia on Thursday, and started his week off with one goal and one assist against Westhill on April 22. Through nine games this season, Karcz has scored 24 goals — one less than Joe LaFluer — and paces Jordan-Elbridge with 17 assists and 41 points. Karcz and the Eagles return to action on Thursday when they host LaFayette.
Girls lacrosse: Grace Marquardt, SkaneatelesÂ
Marquardt racked up 10 assists, nine goals and 37 draw controls last week as the Lakers came away with three wins. She scored two goals, had two assists and came away with 15 draw controls on April 22 in a 16-3 victory over Homer. The freshman then put up four goals, three assists and 14 draw controls in a 17-4 win against Chittenango on Thursday. To cap off the week, Marquardt posted four goals, four assists and eight draw controls on Saturday in a 12-1 victory over Honeoye Falls-Lima. Skaneateles is back on the field Thursday when it travels to face Marcellus.Â

Softball: Paityn Delaney, Union Springs
The hurler outdid herself in two appearances in the circle for the Wolves last week. On April 21, Delaney threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out 12 batters in a 14-0 win over Newfield. She also added an RBI and a triple at the dish. The junior then concluded the week on Friday with a five-inning perfect game and 10 strikeouts in a 23-0 rout against Groton. To boot, she aided her own effort with a home run. She and the Wolves will look to move to 12-0 on Wednesday when they travel to take on Newark Valley.Â

Weller delivered in the circle in the Blue Devils' pair of wins last week to move to 3-1. On April 23, the freshman sat down eight batters and allowed one earned run in a complete game to give her team a 10-1 win over Bishop Grimes. She followed that performance up with a nine-strikeout effort in six innings against Weedsport on Friday, allowing one earned run and three hits. She also picked up one RBI in each of the victories. Cato-Meridian and Weller return to the field on Wednesday when they play Port Byron in a road matchup.
