Three Skaneateles students have been named winners of an annual scholarship memorializing a former village police chief.
Twins Abby and Bailey Post and Jack Peenstra are the winners of the 2025 Skaneateles Police Chief George E. Davis Memorial Scholarship, the Davis family announced in a news release.
The recent graduates received the award during Skaneateles High School鈥檚 commencement ceremony Sunday at Clift Park.聽

Abby Post
Abby and Bailey are the daughters of Todd Post and Sara Fagan, of Skaneateles. Abby is planning on attending Onondaga Community College in the fall to study the liberal arts, and Bailey will be attending the Northeast College of Health Sciences in Seneca Falls.

The family said it was pleased to award the scholarship to Abby and Bailey, who are the great-granddaughters of Davis.

Jack Peenstra
Jack, son of Kristin and Stuart Peenstra, of Sennett, plans to attend James Madison University and major in business. At Skaneateles he was captain of the basketball team, played football and was a violinist in the school orchestra. His father started his career with the Skaneateles Police Department, and is currently undersheriff for Cayuga County.聽
The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Skaneateles senior who demonstrates leadership and citizenship and is the child or grandchild of a police officer, or is pursuing a career in law enforcement or public service. It was created by the Davis family to honor the late 36-year member of the Skaneateles Police Department, who retired as chief.聽
"The Davis family believes that by establishing this memorial scholarship fund, the memory and legacy of Chief Davis will remain in hearts and minds year after year," the family said.
