President-elect Donald Trump won Cayuga County by receiving more votes than he did in his two previous runs for the presidency.聽
The unofficial results released by the county Board of Elections show Trump, a Republican, received 19,959 votes. He won the county with 19,632 votes in 2020 and 17,384 in 2016.聽
For now, Trump's margin of victory in Cayuga County is also the largest in three presidential elections. In 2016, he defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton by nearly 12 points. Four years ago, he bested Democratic challenger Joe Biden by about nine points.聽
Trump's margin of victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, is 13 points. Harris received 15,278 votes.聽
Before Trump's electoral success, Democratic presidential candidates usually won Cayuga County. Former President Bill Clinton won the county in 1992 and 1996. Al Gore had a six-point win here in 2000.聽

Former President George W. Bush, a Republican, ended the streak with a 209-vote win over John Kerry in the 2004 election. But Democrats won the county again in 2008 and 2012 with former President Barack Obama on the ballot. Obama beat John McCain by eight points in 2008 and had a 12-point win over Mitt Romney in 2012.聽
Until Trump, the last Republican presidential candidate to have a double-digit win in Cayuga County was Ronald Reagan in 1984. That year, Reagan won Cayuga County by 28 points over Democratic candidate Walter Mondale.聽
Now, Trump has double-digit victories in two of his three presidential runs.聽
With his win in the presidential election, Trump will be the second president to serve two nonconsecutive terms. Grover Cleveland, who served two terms from 1885 to 1889 and 1893 to 1897, is the other.聽
Cleveland's wife, first lady Frances Folsom Cleveland, was a Wells College alumna.聽
As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, Trump has won 292 electoral votes 鈥 more than the 270 needed to win the presidency. He is also winning the popular vote by nearly 5 million over Harris.聽

Keith Batman, Democratic elections commissioner in Cayuga County, told 水果派AV there was a complaint about electioneering at Auburn Alliance Church. Democratic candidates have signs near the driveway to the church, which is one of the citywide polling locations. There was a measurement and the signs are more than 100 feet away from the polling place. Electioneering is prohibited within 100 feet of a polling place.
