The Auburn City Council will vote this week on awarding a contract to a local firm to finish a park project.
Paul F. Vitale Inc., of Sennett, was the lowest bidder for the second phase of the Wall Street Park project. Vitale submitted a $116,348.53 bid for the project, which includes the resurfacing of the basketball court and the addition of more playground equipment. The plan calls for the installation of a spider web climber for children ages 5 to 12.
Shawn Malone Excavating in Hannibal ($128,675) and Titan Development in Gasport ($156,500) were the other bidders. Titan Development was the contractor for the first phase of the project, which consisted of several site upgrades, including the installation of a new fence, playground and swing set.

The city held a community meeting in 2023 to gather feedback on the proposed design of the new playground at Wall Street Park. The first phase of the project began in 2024 after the contract was awarded to Titan Development. The work was completed last fall.
Both phases are funded by the city's annual Community Development Block Grant plan. The federal Community Development Block Grant program provides funding to local governments for certain projects, especially those that benefit low- and moderate-income residents.
