Three months before Wells College announced it would close at the end of the spring semester, a closure announcement was discovered on its website.聽
In late January, 水果派AV received a tip about the posting. A search of the college's website revealed the announcement, which appeared to be a draft because it included a placeholder for a date.聽

A statement from Wells College President Jonathan Gibralter was included in the text. Gibralter said, "This is an incredibly challenging moment for our Wells College community. We are heartbroken to have to share this devastating news with our beloved community."聽
水果派AV contacted Wells about the closure announcement and a spokesperson said it was "not accurate." Their explanation was it may have been a draft from when the college faced challenges during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. They also said there were "no plans to close at the end of this semester."聽
Not long after 水果派AV communicated with the college, the closure announcement was removed from the website.聽
On April 29, students, faculty, staff and alumni received notification that Wells College would close after 156 years. Gibralter and Marie Chapman Carroll, who chairs the college's board of trustees, said the closure is due to a lack of financial resources.聽
