The Auburn Downtown BID is gearing up for another terrific year filled with music festivals, flowers and so much more. We kick off our season with the annual planting of flowers in the downtown district, as well as Freedom Park, Seward Park and the Auburn police station. Please join us from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20. We will gather on Exchange Street at 9 a.m. for brief instructions and placement.
Mark your calendars for all the events taking place on Memorial Day weekend. The summer kicks off with Majorpalooza from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, May 28. It begins with the Catch Me if You Can 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m. at Memorial City Hall, followed by the Stefanak Sprint there at 9:45 a.m. Event activities begin right after the race.
Join the event on Genesee Street for a variety of food choices that will be offered by the mobile catering business Villano’s and also by the local Italian-American heritage club CIAO. Prison City Pub & Brewery will provide craft and domestic canned beer and wine.

For your enjoyment, live entertainment will be provided throughout the day by Perform 4 Purpose, Young Sauce, MixTape, Generation Gap and Big Eyed Phish. The evening's headlining band is BonJourneyNY, a classic rock tribute band from New York City. The opening act is Big Eyed Phish, a seven-piece Dave Matthews tribute band out of Rochester. Local art, craft and nonprofit vendors will be showcasing their products and services throughout the day. We hope to see you there!
Memorial Day activities start at 11 a.m. with the city’s annual parade. At Veterans Memorial Park, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony that will take place at approximately noon, with an Auburn Civic Band performance.
After the parade, Market Street Park will be the site of the annual Auburn Kiwanis Duck Derby. After the duck release commences, enjoy Dixieland music by the Lock 52 Jazz Band. It will perform under the band shell in Market Street Park, sponsored by the United Way of Cayuga County. United Way of Cayuga County is also hosting family fun activities in the park.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Downtown Auburn BID and United Way of Cayuga County have organized a Food Truck Rodeo and Craft Beer Garden to be offered on Loop Road, and in the parking lot behind The Good Shepherds Brewing Co. Multiple vendors include Cayuga Lake Creamery, Chicken Bandit, Silo Food Truck and Tonzi’s Catering Co.
Beverages will be provided by Aurora Ale & Lager Co., The Copper Pig BBQ and Taproom and Good Shepherds for all adults 21 and older.
It’s a fun-filled and exciting weekend, so come out and enjoy the great things happening in downtown Auburn.
