From half-moon cookies to black IPAs, food and beverage producers in Cayuga County are taking inspiration from Monday's total solar eclipse.
Prison City Brewing in Auburn, Aurora Brewing Co. in Ledyard and Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Co. in Weedsport are releasing eclipse-themed beers, while the latter two breweries will host eclipse parties.

Prison City has released Dark in the Daytime, a 7.5% ABV American stout whose "black color and light tan head was designed to be reminiscent of the eclipse itself," the brewery said in a news release. Four-packs of the beer are available at Prison City's urban farm at 251 North St., which is also pouring flights of four of the brewery's dark beers titled Flight to the Eclipse.

The Auburn brewery will pour Dark in the Daytime during an eclipse viewing event from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at Taste NY at the Finger Lakes Welcome Center, 35 Lakefront Drive, Geneva.

Aurora Brewing Co. in Ledyard is releasing two IPAs inspired by Monday's total solar eclipse.
Aurora this week released two beers inspired by the once-in-a-lifetime celestial event: Before Totality, a New England-style IPA, and In Totality, a black IPA. Both feature Eclipse hops in pellet and liquid extract form, the brewery said on Facebook. They are available to-go and on draft at the 1897 Route 90 brewery, which will host a Totality Party from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday with live music and food specials.
Lunkenheimer will host an eclipse party of its own from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, where the 8931 N. Seneca St. brewery will release a black K枚lsch titled Total Eclipse.聽
"A dark-in-color ale with the flavors similar to our standard (K枚lsch), Buster," the Weedsport brewery said on Facebook. "It is like the sun being obscured by the moon!"
Both Aurora and Lunkenheimer's eclipse parties are free and open to the public.
Another eclipse party will be held in Auburn on Monday at Camerons Bakery on Grant Avenue. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., owner Tony Briseno Jr. will serve eclipse lemonades from his Tony's Lemonade trailer, and his mother's cupcake business, Cupcake Cabinet, will serve half-moon cookies, cupcakes and pretzel sticks, Briseno told 水果派AV.
