This spring has had a consistent theme of renewal at Tyburn Academy. For the first time in a decade, Tyburn Academy has a boys baseball team. For the first time in five years, students performed a musical, mesmerizing audiences with the story and songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "Oklahoma!" Continuing the theme of renewal, the annual Quill Hill Festival will be returning to Tyburn Academy’s campus after a five-year break. On May 31, Auburn and the surrounding area will have another opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy some great food, music and family fun games.
The food at the festival will feature your standard festival fare such as grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, popcorn, cotton candy and fried dough. In the spirit of friendly competition, the festival will also host a chicken riggie tasting contest between local restaurants in Auburn. Doors open for public tasting and voting inside the school building at noon. If you are driving by Clymer Street, you may also be tempted to stop by from the smell of hot and fresh chicken barbecue dinners grilling throughout the day. For thirst-quenching, water, soft drinks and a beer tent will be available all day.

Under the main tent will be a stage for live music performances. Lineups this year will include North American Fiddlers Hall of Famer Joe Davoli with performances from his students whom he taught out of his local studio. Working in their mission to help raise money for nonprofits and give children the opportunity to learn and perform instruments, Perform 4 Purpose will also be gracing the stage. Their performance will also feature the talents of some of Tyburn Academy’s very own students!
Last, but certainly least, are the games that will be featured. Activities for children will include a fairy hair booth, face painting, a dunk tank and a bounce house. Games for kids that will feature prizes will include a duck pond booth, an apple tree game, cornhole and sack race competitions, and a free throw contest. Parents will also be able to participate in raffles for gift baskets and baked goods curated by Tyburn families.
The festival will begin at noon at 17 Clymer St. in Auburn and come to a close at 6 p.m. Entry is free, and there will be a convenient central location to purchase tickets for games, food and beverages. All proceeds raised will go to benefit the Tyburn Academy Jeanne Hogan Scholarship Fund. Many students who would not have been able to attend Tyburn due to financial constraints have been the beneficiaries of this scholarship fund. The school’s philosophy is to never turn a family away for financial reasons, and we have only been able to accomplish this thanks to the generosity of benefactors and the success of fundraising events such as this one. We hope you will join us May 31 for a day of relaxation and fun while supporting the students and families in our community.
