Union Springs and Southern Cayuga alumni joined together at Wells College on Saturday for the first day of the 35th annual golf听Cayuga Lake Challenge Cup.
Alumni from both schools compete every year against one another in an effort to raise money for two scholarships that are awarded to one student from each school. The recipients of this year's scholarships were Union Springs' Paige Smith and Southern Cayuga's Monica Rejman.听
While the tournament featured eight members from each school when it first started, 36 players represented each school this year.听
Southern Cayuga captured the cup in 2024, which ended a dominant run from the Wolves.
This year's winner will be determined on Sunday after the two teams compete in 36 singles matches with match play rules implemented. On Saturday, the pair of teams competed in doubles matches of best ball, alternate shot and scramble, which also featured match play rules.听
