Susan "Sue" Alexander, 79, of Auburn, NY, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born on October 4, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Sue later made Auburn her home, where she raised her family, became a grandma, and came to be a beloved member of the community.
Sue dedicated many years of service as a Secretary to the Deputy at Five Points and Cayuga Correctional Facility. One of her greatest joys during her time at Cayuga was organizing the annual bake sale, which raised money to ensure local children received holiday gifts. Her commitment to helping others continued even after retirement, as she remained active through the Cayuga County Action Program (CCAP), serving on the board and contributing her time and energy to charitable acts throughout the community.
Sue's biggest source of pride was her family. She leaves behind her daughters, Delphina Aldama and her wife Marie Kahle; Kimberly Alexander and her fianc茅 Ernesto Arreguin; her son, Terrance Alexander Jr.; and her beloved grandsons, Terry Alexander III and his wife Andrea Alexander and Rocco Alexander (her Rockman), along with their mother, Christine Alexander. Sue remained close with her former husband, Terry Alexander Sr., and loved being a "doggie grandma" as well. She had many close friends and was dearly loved by many in Auburn who will always remember her bright smile and warm heart.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Angel and Soila Alegria Rodriguez, and her sister, Mary Hope Fielder. She is survived by her siblings, Virginia Arenas and Jose Angel Rodriguez, along with many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
In her final year of life, Sue was a resident of St. Mary's Home in Chicago, operated by the Little Sisters of the Poor. There, she deepened her faith, served as President of the Resident Board, and found joy in the friendships she made with the residents and staff who came to love her as much as she loved them.
It is very fitting that her services will be held at St. Mary's Home, with a Mass and a celebration of her life on July 11th.
In Lieu of flowers please consider honoring Sue's generous spirit with a donation to St. Mary's Home, 2325 N. Lakewood Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.
