Joyce H. Tyrrell (nee Frost) 84 of Moravia, NY passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Born January 25, 1941 to Frederick "Fred" and Freida (May) Frost of Sempronius, NY, Joyce was a lifelong resident of the Moravia area.
Joyce's main occupation was a homemaker, but she also provided daycare services and elderly care to many throughout the community. However, her favorite role was as "Grandma" to her many grandchildren. She could often be found cheering them on at school events or lifetime milestones. She never missed an opportunity to brag about her grandchildren and their achievements to anyone who would listen.
Though small in stature, Joyce had a big personality and an even bigger heart. She enjoyed visiting, car rides and always found a friend everywhere she went. Some of the family's favorite times were when we sat around her kitchen table listening to her childhood stories.
Joyce is survived by her partner in life of 49 years, Claude Wheeler; daughters, Denise Tyrrell and Stacey (Michael) Withers; son, Gregory Tyrrell; sisters: Sharon (Richard) Tibbits, Evelyn Van Liew and Debbie Andrews; brothers: Gary (Laura) Frost, Gene (Jane) Frost and Earl (Mary Jane) Frost; grandchildren: Kelly (Jason) Cuddeback, Leanne (Scott) Swan, Benjamin Tyrrell, Amy Radcliff, Logan (Chelsea) Withers, Miranda (Zachary) Field and Mikaela Withers (Marc Dushatinski); great-grandchildren: Cole Cuddeback (Bethany Baran), Caden Cuddeback, Carter Cuddeback, Hailee Howe, Raygen Tyrrell, Logan Tyrrell, Benjamin Tyrrell Jr. and Bryson Withers.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda Cole and Connie Reynolds; brothers, Rolland and Raymond Frost; her first husband, Donald Tyrrell; and a grandson, Robert Gray.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Guthrie Cortland Emergency Department and Crouse Hospital ICU for the phenomenal and attentive care provided to Joyce during her time of need. Your kindness and compassion is appreciated and will not be forgotten. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Joyce's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Four Town First Aid Squad.
