The Auburn Enlarged City School District's athletic director will depart this week for another district in the region.
Chris Maher聽will finish as Auburn's director of health, physical education and athletics on Friday. The district board of education accepted his resignation at its .
Maher, who began as Auburn's athletic director in June 2021, is leaving for the same position at the Waterloo Central School District beginning Monday, June 9.
He will make a salary of in Waterloo after making a salary of in Auburn, according to district records.

Auburn Superintendent Dr. Misty Slavic told 水果派AV that since she started with the district in聽September, Maher "has worked hard to ensure the success of our health and athletic programming."
Prior to becoming athletic director, he was a vice principal at Auburn High School and principal at Genesee Elementary School, among other positions over the years.聽

Maher will be succeeded on an interim basis by the person he succeeded, Dr. Tamela Ray, who retired in June 2021 after 25 years as athletic director. She was appointed at the district's May 27 meeting.聽
Slavic said Ray, who will make $525 a day in the interim position, has worked "intermittently based upon what is going on in the district."
"We did hire her to begin immediately so that she could work with Mr. Maher to ensure a smooth transition," Slavic said.
The superintendent added that from the week she started working in Auburn, she has heard about Ray's impact on the district.
"Her professionalism, knowledge base, and student-centered approach make her an invaluable part of our team," Slavic said.
"I am grateful to have her in this short-term capacity to help transition a new director into the role."
The online posting for the athletic director position was created May 8 and closed May 30, Slavic said.
The district will next interview candidates and make a recommendation to the school board for approval.
