Writer Sean Kirst was the featured speaker Saturday at The Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, outside Dana West Jr.-Sr. High School in Port Byron Saturday.
Visitors were given glow sticks for a luminary ceremony to light the area near the wall at dusk.
The schedule for Sunday, June 4: 11 a.m. - Community-wide non-denominational service, followed by a community reception; 3 p.m. - Closing ceremony with guest speaker Staff Sgt. 1st Class Richard Jorolemon; 4 p.m. – Breakdown of the wall; 7 p.m. – the wall departs in silence and without an escort.
