William G. "Bill" Lee, a cherished father, uncle, brother-in-law and friend, passed away on February 20, 2025. Bill was the son of the late Clyde and Mary (Tabaczak) Lee. He was predeceased by his siblings, Lorraine, Arthur, Barbara and Virginia. Having spent most of his life on Chase Street, he had many stories about the antics he and his friends would get in to, they were best known as, the Chase Street Bulldogs. Bill married the Love of his Life Barbara (Graney), and spent 57 wonderful years together, until her recent passing.
His family grew to include his devoted son Jeffrey, as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. He had a wide circle of good friends, which he also considered family.
A proud veteran, Bill served his country in the US Navy as a Parachute Rigger. He often spoke of his naval service. A highlight for him was a trip to Washington amongst other veterans for Operation Enduring Gratitude. Bill would return to Auburn and spend the next 27 years as a Firefighter for the City of Auburn. He treasured his time alongside his fellow brothers in the department. In retirement, he remained active and involved, holding memberships with, as a Life member of The Utopia Club, and SK Post 1324; Ukrainian National Club, The Knights of Columbus, the Falcon Sportsman's and the Auburn Retired Firefighter's Association.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also spent many years playing softball with his friends for his Polish Home team. He was a devoted SU basketball fan, holding season tickets for many years. He was always rooting for the Red Sox, enjoyed NASCAR and Golf. Meeting his many friends at Dutch Hollow Country Club, often lead to much banter and indulging in a beverage or two. Monday nights with Barbara would be spent at the Knights of Columbus, sharing stories and many laughs with their friends. These times will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers, Martha and Barbara. Whom he always looked forward to seeing. Bill, we have all shared many, many laughs and good times together, all memories that we will cherish forever. As saddened as we are at the loss of you, we take great comfort in knowing you are reunited with your beloved Barbara.
In accordance with Bill's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday May 10th, at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with military honors. His burial will be private at St Joseph's Cemetery in Fleming, N.Y., next to his wife Barbara.
