Mary Frieda Daratt Zammett, 90, formerly of Oakridge Road and Westminster Manor, Auburn, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living.
Born in Auburn, she was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Molloy) Daratt and was known to many as "Frieda." A graduate of East High School, Frieda dedicated many years of her life in banking and retired from First Niagara Bank. Her kind demeanor, and genuine compassion made her a valued colleague and friend throughout her career in customer service.
She enjoyed her time gardening. Her green thumb for flowers, vegetables, and herbs flourished under her care. Frieda was also a talented seamstress, and especially cherished her time making stuffed animals for all of her grandchildren. She loved reading, and in her quiet moments, she would often curl up with a good murder mystery book. A devoted and active communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, she found strength in her faith and community.
Frieda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose selfless nature touched everyone who knew her. Family was everything to her and she constantly thought of those around her before herself. Her loving spirit and quiet strength were the foundation of her family, and she led by example with grace and unwavering kindness.
She will be deeply missed by her five children: Michael (Marybeth) Zammett, Patricia M. Zammett, Susan (Ken) Sargent, Catherine (Samuel) Cuipylo, Timothy (Vanessa) Zammett; eleven grandchildren, Laura, Dionne, Susan, Edward, Leigha, Jami, Jenna, Kenny, Lauren, Jenna and Miranda; a sister-in-law, Emma Zammett; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard H. Zammett in 2018; a son, David Zammett in 2016; and by a brother, Gary Daratt in 2017.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at both Westminster Manor and Finger Lakes Center for Living. Per Frieda's wishes there are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 3rd at 9:30 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Church with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes or to The Matthew House. Please visit to leave a condolence for the family.
