Richard "Dick" L. Foote, 90, passed away January 20, 2025. He was born on January 30, 1934, to the late Francis and Lola (Moore) Foote. He graduated from Jordan Central School and was a longtime resident of Jordan. Dick was active in his community, served our Nation as a United States Marine during the Korean war, and worked as a telephone lineman for over 40 years with New York Telephone, AT&T and Verizon.Dick was a handyman, a gardener and a golfer; he was quick with a joke, a smile, and loved making new friends.
Upon retirement from the phone company, Dick and his wife, Marlene, moved to The Villages in Florida. Together they spent over twenty years enjoying the "friendliest hometown you know" with friends playing golf, arranging neighborhood parties, socializing over afternoon ice teas at Dunkin Donuts and numerous poolside games of Phase 10. Dick and Marlene returned to central New York in November 2021 and resided at Bluefield Manor in Auburn. The Bluefield staff quickly befriended Dick as he swapped stories over coffee each morning with the maintenance staff and raided the Director's candy jar now and then. The family would also like to thank Karen and Luanne for their care and compassion of Dick during his stay at Bluefield.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marlene and his brother, William. He is survived by his children, Michael (Betsy) and Lisa Hamilton (Steve); grandchildren: Chris (Aly), Brandon (Meghan), Matt (Meg) and Kevin (Nichole); six great-grandchildren; his brother, James; and several nieces and nephews.
